Hospice of the Chesapeake has announced the appointment of Monica Escalante as Chief Strategy & Information Officer, a newly established position aimed at expanding access and innovation in hospice care. Escalante, currently the Chief Executive Officer of Coastal Hospice in Salisbury, Maryland, will join the team in mid-August, bringing over 20 years of hospice and palliative care experience in Maryland.
"I'm honored to join the leadership team at Hospice of the Chesapeake as Chief Strategy & Information Officer with a focus on expanding access to those who need care as well as seeking innovative and creative solutions that will best prepare us for the future," Escalante said.

Rebecca Miller, Chief Executive Officer of Hospice of the Chesapeake, expressed her confidence in Escalante's fit for the organization, which serves Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, and Prince George's counties. "As Maryland's largest independent not-for-profit hospice organization, we take our role of providing expert, compassionate care to all who need it very seriously. Monica's expertise and experience will allow us to further achieve our mission of bringing hope and healing to those experiencing advanced, serious illness," Miller stated.
In addition to Escalante's appointment, Brian Berger has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer, effective June 1. Berger, who currently serves as Vice President of Care Continuum, is a licensed clinical social worker and certified advanced palliative and hospice social worker. He has over 20 years of experience in hospice, palliative, and grief care across multiple organizations nationwide.
Sandra Dillon has also been promoted to Vice President of Strategic Communications & Advocacy. Dillon has been with Hospice of the Chesapeake since February 2010 and brings over 30 years of experience in strategic communications, digital and print marketing, public relations, advertising, and advocacy to her new role.
"These additions to our executive team at Hospice of the Chesapeake bring with them vast experience, unparalleled expertise, and a contagious passion for the care we provide," Miller said.
