The Cathedral de Seville is the second largest Christian building behind the Vatican of course. What Cathedral would be complete without a huge tower!
There is a wooden crocodile at the base of the tower, which was gifted to the Cathedral by a Muslim wishing the hand of the King's Illegitimate daughter, or so the story goes.
The Giralda is the bell tower of Seville Cathedral in Seville, Spain. It was built as the minaret for the Great Mosque of Seville in al-Andalus, during the reign of the Almohad dynasty, with a Renaissance-style belfry added by the Catholics after the expulsion of the Muslims from the area.
The tower is accessible via ramps, which are rumoured to have been climbed 5 times a day by a man riding a donkey, to call the faithful to prayers. It was not the worst climb I have ever done, but exercise is exercise…
We made it! My lovely wife decided to take a pass on the tower, as she has a cold and she is a wuss, just sayin!
The views are spectacular! In the distance, you can see a bull fighting ring!
The view of the Cathedral shows just how large the place is.
We made it down safely and after finding the wife, we rejoined our tour!
