Authorities in Charles County are offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of a suspect involved in the stabbing of a 15-year-old boy. The incident occurred on April 27 at approximately 9:05 p.m. at St. Charles Towne Center, where the teen initially reported he had been shot.
Officers, who were working a secondary job at a carnival held in the mall's parking lot, provided immediate first aid after the teen approached them for help. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were promptly called to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. It was later confirmed at the hospital that the victim had sustained a stab wound, not a gunshot wound as initially reported.
The preliminary investigation by the Charles County Police indicates that the incident stemmed from a confrontation. The victim was with a group of teenagers when an argument broke out with another large group in the lower parking lot of the mall. During the altercation, the victim was stabbed.
Detective Cooley, who is handling the case, urges anyone with information to come forward. Witnesses or anyone with information can contact Detective Cooley directly at 301-609-6502.
