Daily writing prompt
Describe a positive thing a family member has done for you.
Family can be at times the most wonderful, supportive and lovely "family" one could hope for. At other times, family can be enough to drive you crazy. Now, it might not be the "entire family" that creates the "craziness", nor could it be the entire family who has done a supportive thing for you.
But, in the end, families are what families are. This rich and diverse combination of folks, all with separate personalities, desires, wants and needs all the while giving to others within that family in their own unique way.
As simple as the prompt may appear, it actually is quite a challenge to answer in my opinion. I think my issue is the difference between "a positive thing" and "being supportive."
The "positive thing" aspect is taking me down a path to recall "a thing" or an instance. A positive thing might be something like Lynn bringing home something from the grocery store that I might enjoy. That certainly fits the definition of being positive. Or getting us quickly organized when we've had to fly back unexpectedly to Ontario.
But, being supportive is something on an entirely different level. It suggests being supportive of your spouse or child even if you may not agree with their decision or direction. Or being supportive both physically and emotionally when a family member is dealing with a significant health issue.
A "positive thing" and being supportive are in essence two entirely different things. However, both are necessary and need to occur with frequency within the context of a family unit.
