The Big Day of Giving is coming up and community members can help support the arts through a charitable donation.
YoloArts is one of several Yolo County nonprofits participating in the Big Day of Giving, an annual 24-hour giving event that unites people to raise funds for nonprofits that strengthen El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento and Yolo counties.
A donation to YoloArts will support programming for students, artists and the community. It is a direct investment in the number of professional artists in the local schools, art installations at Gallery 625 and The Barn Gallery, the Art & Ag Project and field trips to the Gibson House for grades K-12.
The Big Day of Giving is on Thursday, May 2, but early giving has already started. Donations to YoloArts can be made at https://www.bigdayofgiving.org/organization/yoloarts.
The Winters Theatre Company is also participating in the Big Day of Giving.
The Winters Theatre Company will be hosting a Big Day of Giving event on May 2 at the Winters Opera House. Stop by the Opera House to immerse yourself in the smooth sounds of live music with Keith Carey and friends while enjoying a glass or two of beer or delicious local wines from Berryessa Gap and Turkovich wineries.
All donations during the event will be doubled thanks to an anonymous matching donor.

Season tickets for the Davis Musical Theatre Company's 40th season will be available on May 1.
This season will consist of six plays starting at the beginning of September and running until July 2025.
Kicking off the 40th season on Sept. 6 is "Jekyll & Hyde," an evocative tale detailing one man's struggle with good and evil.
"A devoted man of science, Dr. Henry Jekyll is driven to find a chemical breakthrough that can solve some of mankind's most challenging medical dilemmas," said DMTC's website. "Rebuffed by the powers that be, he decides to make himself the subject of his own experimental treatments, accidentally unleashing his inner demons along with the man that the world would come to know as Mr. Hyde."
"My Fair Lady" comes to DMTC's stage on Nov. 8. This beloved musical follows Eliza Doolittle, a young flower seller with an unmistakable Cockney accent which keeps her in the lower rungs of Edwardian society. When the pompous phonetics professor Henry Higgins tries to teach her how to speak like a "proper lady," an unlikely friendship begins to flourish.
The third show of the season will be a musical about show business. According to DMTC's website, the title of the show can't be released until July 1. The unnamed play will open Jan. 3, 2025.
"Young Frankenstein" will follow, opening on March 7, 2025.
"Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced "Fronk-en-steen") inherits his family's estate in Transylvania," said DMTC's website. "With the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor and a leggy lab assistant, Inga, Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors."
"Sister Act" follows disco diva Deloris Van Cartier who is forced to disguise as a nun after witnessing a murder and being placed in protective custody. During her time in the convent, she uses her disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir and breathe new life into the church and community. The show opens on April 25, 2025.
The final show of the season will be Disney's "Hunchback of Notre Dame," opening June 20, 2025.
"Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer who longs to be 'Out There,' observes all of Paris reveling in the Feast of Fools," said DMTC's website. "Held captive by his devious caretaker, the archdeacon Dom Claude Frollo, he escapes for the day and joins the boisterous crowd, only to be treated cruelly by all but the beautiful Romani woman, Esmeralda. Quasimodo isn't the only one captivated by her free spirit, though – the handsome Captain Phoebus and Frollo are equally enthralled. As the three vie for her attention, Frollo embarks on a mission to destroy the Roma – and it's up to Quasimodo to save them all."
