Arrests after Fights: Several weekend bar fights ended with three arrests, including one involving a so called Ghost Gun or illegally manufactured firearm. Early Saturday morning, officers were called to the area of Main Street and Grand Avenue for a report of a confrontation at the Thirsty Goat that escalated when one of the men involved pulled out a gun. When officers arrived, the man with the gun had already left the area.
Officers then followed up on a tip about the suspect who had a gun. The officers spotted a vehicle that matched the tip description and searched the driver. The officers found a 9mm Polymer80 Ghost Gun on the driver, 22-year-old Joseph Barrera of the City of Yolo. Barrera was arrested and booked into the Yolo County Jail on charges of possessing a Ghost Gun and other gun-related charges. The investigation is ongoing.
While officers were investigating, a second fight broke out in which a security guard was attacked and had to be transported to the hospital. A second man, Michael Thompson, a 25-year-old Woodland resident, was arrested for battery after he punched another person in the face several times, causing serious but non-life threatening injuries. Officers arrested a third man, Fabian Cabrera a 33-year-old Woodland resident, for resisting and delaying an officer involved in an investigation.
Sales of Meth: On Sept. 24 at 6:56 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle on Kentucky Avenue and N. East Street and contacted the driver Danny Byrd, a 50-year-old Woodland resident, who was on searchable probation. A search of his vehicle was conducted and officers located 243 Grams of Methamphetamine. He was arrested and booked at Yolo County Jail for possession and transportation of methamphetamine for sale.
Possession of Fentanyl: On Sept. 24 at around 8:21 p.m., officers from Patrol, Gangs, and Probation did a probation search on the 600 Block of N. East St. Darnell Gray, a 33-year-old Woodland resident who was on searchable probation. Gray attempted to flush Fentanyl down a toilet when officers contacted him. Gray was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, destruction of evidence and a no bail warrant. He was booked into Yolo County Jail.
Rojelio Sanchez, a 25-year-old Woodland resident, was at the location and on searchable Probation. He was in possession of Fentanyl. He was released on a notice to appear with a court date.
Jacqueline Leon, a 22-year-old Woodland resident, was in possession of Fentanyl and paraphernalia. She was released on a notice to appear with a court date.
Transportation of Cocaine for Sale: On Sept. 26 at 10:11 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle occupied by Jesse Black, a 29-year-old Woodland resident by N. East Street. Black was a Parolee at Large. He also had 18.5 grams of Cocaine and a scale in his possession. Black was arrested and booked into Yolo County Jail for the Parole warrant and transportation.
HOST
Child Protective Services was looking to connect with one of our local community members that is unhoused.
HOST was able to watch for this subject during their regular patrols and locate the person connecting them to CPS and mental health services.
HOST has continued to work on marking camps and cleaning areas of blight left by the unhoused.
HOST made 75 contacts, and offered services to 49 of them of which two accepted services. There were 30 camps located and 13 camps cleaned up. There were five downtown patrols and eight business contacts made.
