Due to casting issues, the Winters Theatre Company announced it would no longer be moving forward with their scheduled production of "Catsplay."
"It's a difficult play to cast, and while we have great actors in our community that would do it wonderfully, it didn't work out this time," said a press release from the Winters Theatre Company. "We still intend to develop the 'Catsplay' project at a later time."
In place of "Catsplay," the Winters Theatre Company will instead be introducing a project it is calling the "Shakespeare Pivot" which will feature a variety of scenes from Shakespeare.
"Many people are intimidated by Shakespeare's verse, or feel it separates them from their dramatic instincts," the press release continued. "The goal of this workshop is to demonstrate the opposite, that the verse is a guide that will help you unlock a more natural connection to your character and the story you tell."
Scenes will be chosen according to participants. Rehearsals will be held from Aug. 27 to Oct. 3 at the Winters Opera House at 7 p.m.
The project will culminate in two weekends of performances in a loose, casual evening of fun from Oct. 4 through 16 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Artery will be presenting a new exhibition titled "Reflections" featuring the photography of Susan Stoll and the metal sculptures of Jay Stargaard.
The exhibition is scheduled to run from Sept. 6 to 30, with the reception on Friday, Sept. 13 from 6 to 9 p.m.
"Stoll's water photographs capture the serene and abstract quality of water reflections, revealing the hidden beauty of the natural world," said a press release from the Artery. "Stargaard's sculptures use various metal surfaces as mirrors that invite viewers to reflect on their inner selves. Don't miss this fascinating artistic dialogue between nature's reflecting images and the mirrored sculptural surfaces, both inviting viewers to personal contemplation."
