On the night of August 22, 2024, residents of Lexington Park were startled by a barrage of gunfire, prompting an immediate response from local law enforcement. According to the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office, deputies arrived at the 46000 block of Columbus Drive around 9:21 p.m. following reports of multiple gunshots.
The scene, filled with chaos shortly after the incident, saw several individuals fleeing the area. Although the gunfire resulted in damage to multiple residences and vehicles, there were no physical injuries reported. Investigators at the scene collected numerous shell casings, indicating the severity of the incident.
The Criminal Investigations Division of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office has taken over the investigation. They are urging anyone with information, whether they witnessed the event or have any knowledge that could lead to identifying the perpetrators, to come forward.
