MECHANICSVILLE, MD — A juvenile was arrested in Mechanicsville on Friday following a raid by the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office, where authorities executed a search and seizure warrant at a residence on Cox Drive.
Law enforcement detained the individual on charges stemming from a June 26 shooting incident. The juvenile faces several serious allegations, including attempted second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and multiple firearm-related charges.
The arrest occurred at a home in the 26000 block of Cox Drive, where deputies had been conducting an investigation linked to the June incident that took place in Lexington Park. During that episode, deputies at the scene discovered casings, live ammunition, and a projectile. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
The individual, whose identity remains protected under juvenile privacy laws, was charged as an adult. The legal framework prevents the public disclosure of the juvenile's identity, maintaining anonymity throughout the judicial proceedings.
This arrest is part of ongoing efforts by local authorities to address violent crimes in the community, focusing particularly on incidents involving firearms.
