DAHLGREN, Va. – The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) has announced plans for range testing from August 19-22, which is expected to produce significant noise in areas surrounding the Naval Support Facility Dahlgren. The testing sessions are scheduled daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Residents in proximity to the facility may experience heightened noise levels as a result of the operations. The tests are part of routine evaluations conducted by the NSWCDD to ensure the effectiveness and safety of naval capabilities.
During the testing period, access to specific areas of the Potomac River, particularly the Middle Danger Zone, will be restricted. This area is detailed in the Code of Federal Regulations under title 33 CFR 334.230, which outlines the coordinates and conditions of restricted naval areas.
The NSWCDD has made provisions for the public to stay informed about the testing schedule, which can change with little notice. Updates are available daily through a toll-free hotline at (877) 845-5656. Additional information, including detailed test schedules, can be accessed on the Potomac River Test Range website at NSWCDD Range Schedule.
Community members seeking more details or with specific inquiries can reach out to the NSWCDD Public Affairs Office via email at NSWCD_103.fct@navy.mil or by phone at (540) 653-8154.
As the community prepares for the upcoming tests, the NSWCDD assures the public that all measures are in place to conduct these operations safely and with minimal disruption to the daily lives of the surrounding population.
