In light of an earlier post today on getting "Ollie", this was a bit I wrote back in July of 2022 after we had been in our then new "old homestead" along the shores of the Bay of Fundy.
Often we look around in life and discover that we are where we are, solely because we've limited ourselves to that spot; to that place.
In other words, we don't allow ourselves to have what we want. We know what we want ......but we're not there having what we want .....we're here at this place; a different place ....... and we're here because we've HAVE NOT allowed ourselves to be in the place were we have what we want.
Confusing .... I know
From July 2022 .........
When it comes to self-proclaimed or perhaps not so "self-proclaimed" motivational/inspirational/self-help folks out there, the number of them that flood any one of the multitudes of social media platforms is, to say the least staggering.
Having not really followed any of them to any great extent, I'm not entirely convinced I'm the person to be blabbering on about them. Nevertheless, I did catch a brief glimpse of one that I semi-follow on Instagram early this morning. The reel was short, but I think I made a bucket full of sense on many levels.
What she said was essentially this and I'm sort of paraphrasing here - "we are where we are because we know what we want, but we don't allow ourselves to have it."
The point she's getting at resonates a touch with yours truly this way. We knew what we wanted - to move to the east coast. There's more to it - but that's the bare bones of it.
It seems on the surface a simple enough statement. Correct?
And it is - often however that's as far those statements make it.
We(you/I) simply speak the words into some grammatically correct structure and then let them loose so they end up floating around in the nothingness of space and time for eternity accomplishing - nothing.
Those words we utter and often from the deepest reaches of our souls and hearts(we know what we want) die a slow and painful death - why? Because we don't allow ourselves to have it.
We fail or worse choose not to act on them.
We can't let fear; circumstances; opinions(this is such a big factor - it can't be emphasized enough) and/or waiting until the right moment stop us from "allowing ourselves to have it."
Yes, I know there is a myriad of views or takes on this as there might be people reading this. Nevertheless, sometimes we just need to step out in faith or whatever you might call it and take a step towards "allowing yourself to have it." And then take another step.
Many of you are reading and might be thinking, "So you're talking about material stuff - things?" Nope. Sorry if that's what you thought.
Only you know "what you want(happiness; contentment; fulfillment - you get the idea)"
Now take the first step to get it. A real meaningful step and don't allow yourself or someone else "not allow you to have it."
--as always with love--
--- get outdoors; find inspiration; discover yourself ---
