#KitsPlan is a grassroots initiative to involve the residents of Kitsilano in imagining and envisioning the future of the neighbourhood, in the context of the controversial Broadway Plan being imposed by the City of Vancouver. In 2024 so far, #KitsPlan has held two well-attended town hall events (see links and video below), is actively engaging with experts to discuss alternative visions for Kitsilano to evolve in the future, accommodate an increasing population, and yet maintain its character and charms. This is in the context of a flood of rezoning applications already in process at the City of Vancouver, a land rush by speculators and developers, and uncertainty for renters and owners.
The City is holding the final of four open houses (drop-in format only) on June 26, 2024, proposing dramatic turbocharging of height and density, removal of limits on towers permitted per block, and more. People are encouraged to attend, ask the staff all your questions, express your concerns, and write comments in the forms provided. The City is also holding a few pop-up events. You can also comment to the City online until July 14. Related info is this article on CityHallWatch.
