(WHERE IS MY BAKED MAC N CHEESE???!!!!!) Still drooling 🤣
OMG! Have you ever had a late night craving of something you haven't eaten in DECADES!!! I seriously don't think I have had mind blowing killer food since home (I'm from Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.). At least not any that I haven't cooked. Puerto Rico has some mighty stellar great food. Chicago is definitely all American yummy. I did have some amazing Mexican Food in New Mexico and Texas. Louisiana and the Carolinas have some great Southern and Cajun. Florida, real hit and miss, you definitely want to eat local, neighborhood joints, dive bars and such. Some of the gas stations out there are doing some awesome food too. Note: I am usually up to try anything, that is clean, great smelling, and I see you make, I'm adventurous like that 🤣🤣🤣. New York, I love your food, but I NEED BIG FLAVOR, not just pretty dishes. I get it, it is location, location, location, and then factor in how much it cost to get the ingredients to you.
There are your random places all over that have AMAZING FOOD. But, Californians just have the food down to a science, in so much abundance. I think it has to do with all of the different cultures, then add Farm to Table too. Or Sea to Table too. Plus, Californians love to eat! Maybe I am feeling a little homesick too. Hmm…
So… I'm watching a comedy about a party in Mexico. All of the sudden I have the craziest craving. I mean I can practically taste it, my craving has taste (as I am salivating). Juicy BBQ Sauced Short Ribs, either on top of KILLER Mac n Cheese, with BBQ Sauce Au Jus Gravy of course, and a great Garden Salad, or Corn on the Cob, or the BBQ Sauced Short Ribs on PERFECT White Rice, with gravy of course, and going for the kill, Deviled Egg Potato Salad! Man, my grandmama must be in my thoughts from Heaven right now. She'd probably add cooked Greens and some Buttery Cornbread too! Dude! That woman could cook! She has always been my ultimate inspiration for cooking. My mama and aunts can cook. But no one was better than my Grandmama!
Unfortunately, my hubby is a very plain kinda eater. He tries, but otherwise I would be cooking for one. Or, me and the pups. Takes all the soul outta Soul Food cooking for one, aka me. We'll see. He likes Cornbread, Rice, Salad, and BBQ. But no to Greens, or meat on a bone. I do get him to try stuff all the time though. Progress is slow. So maybe, I just remove the bone. Meat falls right off anyhow if you do it right!
You know what I should do? Make a 4 person meal like this for me, and an alternate 4 person meal for him. Vacuum seal 2 of each meal (sans salad) and freeze those bad boys. That way we are both in heaven, with one day of leftovers to boot! Also, another 2 days worth of meals for each of us roaring to go. Hmm….
I might even have to make some Espresso Chocolate Chunk Cookies or Espresso Sea Salt Triple Dark Chocolate Brownies!
What is going on??? I normally do not have cravings at all. And usually it is Sushi, Sashimi, or a killer burger, or steak. Grandmama must be looking down at me.
You just know it! I had a delicious Caprese Salad tonight with Roma Tomatoes, Buffalo Mozzarella, my homemade Cranberry Balsamic Glaze, Olive Oil, Sea Salt Flakes, Tarragon, Red Chili Crisp Oil, and my AWESOME freaking Garlic Smash! You would think I would be over the moon! But noooooo, I am here drooling about a dish I haven't had, or made in over 15 years! Damn! Humph!
I NEED the picture below cooked my family's way, and some BBQ Sauce Au Jus, and some mind blowing baked Mac N Cheese! I don't even eat a lot any more (I was the bottomless pit until i hit 35. Not since my 20s. But, I would definitely polish off a plate with probably some 2nds!
I swear if I were younger, I would do a food truck, or pop up restaurant, of Soul Food from ALL OVER our Nation. I've been to 42 States. Each one has their own Soul Food. I would just LOVE a place like that. Open for breakfast, brunch, lunch, supper, dinner, dessert, late night eats. Closed from 4 to 6 am! Wouldn't have to be fancy. Just some pop up tables, a tv to catch the news on during the day, and some music as the day went on.
Lets see if I have food in my sleep tonight? Lol.
