As the hot summer months slowly arrive, graduation ceremonies in the city of Woodland are in full swing.
Woodland Community College started the season off with the school's 16th annual Commencement Ceremony this past Friday. Held on the campus courtyard at 2300 E. Gibson Road, the ceremony featured the largest graduating class in the college's history, with nearly 400 graduates.
In the Woodland Joint Unified School District, the Native American Student Graduation Ceremony will once again kick things off. It will take place at Douglass Middle School on Friday, May 31 starting at 6 p.m.
Woodland Adult Education will follow on Tuesday, June 4 at 6 p.m. at Pioneer High School.
The ceremony for Adult Living Skills will take place on Wednesday, June 5 at 10 a.m. at the Woodland Adult Education building located at 575 Hays St.
Douglass and Lee Middle School's promotion ceremonies will both be on Wednesday, June 5, at 7:30 p.m. Douglass' ceremony will take place at Pioneer High School, while Lee's will take place across town at Woodland High School.
Pioneer High School will hold its ceremony on Thursday, June 6 at 7:30 p.m. on its football field.
The next day, Friday, June 7, Cache Creek High School will hold its graduation inside the Pioneer High School Theater starting at 2 p.m. Woodland High School will hold its ceremony later that night at its football field beginning at 7:30 p.m.
"It's exciting to be close to our promotion and graduation ceremonies," said Superintendent Elodia Ortega-Lampkin. "This is a time we celebrate our students' achievements and look ahead to the promising futures that await them. I am incredibly proud of our students, staff, and administrators for their exceptional efforts throughout the year. I also deeply appreciate our families and community members for their unwavering support of our students and schools. We're looking forward to a great week of community celebration!"
The last day of school for the WJUSD will be Friday, June 7.
Woodland Christian High School will hold its senior graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 8, at 7 p.m. at Justin Smith Field.
In the Yolo County Office of Education, Greengate School will kick things off with its graduation Wednesday, June 5 from 10 a.m. to noon at the campus located at 285 W. Beamer St.
Adult Living Skills will hold its graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to noon at the YCOE Conference Center located at 1280 Santa Anita Court, Suite 120.
On Thursday, June 6, Horizon and the Cesar Chavez Community School will both hold their ceremonies at the YCOE Conference Center. Horizon is set for 1 to 3 p.m., while the Cesar Chavez graduation is set for 5:30 to 7 p.m.
