The Board of Education, in its meeting on June 11, approved several significant administrative appointments, aiming to strengthen leadership within the Charles County Public Schools (CCPS). Kayla Marshall, currently an administrative intern at Westlake High School, was appointed as the new assistant principal at North Point High School. Her new role will take effect on July 1.
In another key appointment, Tamika Parker, a seasoned school psychologist with CCPS, was promoted to the position of supervising school psychologist. Parker, who has been with CCPS since 2016, will assume her new role on July 1. She replaces Michael Blanchard, Psy.D., who will step into his new position as the Director of Student Services for CCPS on the same date.
Parker's professional journey within CCPS has been marked by her dedicated service at the Robert D. Stethem Educational Center and William A. Diggs Elementary School. Before joining CCPS, Parker gained valuable experience as a school psychologist with Alexandria City Public Schools in Northern Virginia and as a psychological assessment and clinical supervisor at Options Public Charter School in Washington, D.C.
These appointments underscore CCPS's commitment to fostering educational leadership and ensuring that students receive the best possible support. The Board's decisions reflect a strategic effort to promote experienced and dedicated professionals within the school system.
