LEONARDTOWN, MD (May 28, 2024) — A routine traffic stop on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man on multiple drug charges.
Deputy Joseph Senatore of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office initiated the stop on Monday, May 27, after observing a Ford Expedition with a dangling exhaust system. The vehicle's driver, identified as Karim Martinez Bouarfa, attempted to evade the stop by speeding into a neighborhood and ultimately stopping in a residential driveway.
Upon approaching the vehicle, Deputy Senatore noticed suspected controlled dangerous substance (CDS) paraphernalia in plain view. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed additional suspected paraphernalia, suspected cocaine residue, and crack cocaine.
Bouarfa, a resident of Lexington Park, was arrested on the scene. He was transported to the Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, where he was charged with three counts of CDS: Possession – Not Cannabis, and three counts of CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia. Bouarfa is currently awaiting a bond hearing.
