Nathan S. Lindgren, 28, of Lexington Park, was sentenced to 12 years in prison on May 24, 2024, for possession and distribution of child pornography. The sentence was handed down by Calvert County Circuit Court Judge Mark S. Chandlee.
The case against Lindgren began on March 9, 2021, when the Maryland State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The tip indicated that someone was distributing child exploitation material online. An investigation by the ICAC task force identified Lindgren as the suspect.
Following the investigation, search warrants were issued for Lindgren's person, vehicle, and residence. During the execution of these warrants, police recovered Lindgren's cell phone, which contained multiple images of child pornography. Lindgren admitted to using his cell phone to distribute the illicit images.
In addition to his prison sentence, Lindgren will be subject to five years of supervised probation upon his release. He will also be required to register as a sex offender, ensuring that his movements and activities are monitored to prevent future offenses.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant State's Attorney Rebecca N. Cordero, who emphasized the importance of protecting children from exploitation and holding offenders accountable for their actions.
This conviction highlights the ongoing efforts of the Maryland State Police ICAC task force and the NCMEC in combating the distribution of child pornography and protecting vulnerable children from online predators. The task force relies on cyber tips and collaborative investigations to track down and apprehend individuals involved in these heinous crimes.
