Outside agency assist: On April 20, at around 11 a.m., the West Sacramento Police Department advised they were in pursuit of a murder suspect they had been attempting to locate. The pursuit began approaching Woodland on Old River Road and West Sacramento Police requested Woodland Police Department assistance. Before arriving in Woodland, the vehicle had one or more tires deflated from spike strips. Yolo County Sheriff's Department Deputies and Woodland Police Officers deployed additional spike strips, which deflated the remaining tires.
The vehicle entered Quality Drive, stopped and the suspect fled on foot. Air resources observed the suspect and reported his location to officers until he was taken into custody by Woodland PD officers on the scene. The suspect was turned over to West Sacramento Police without further incident.
Stolen vehicle arrest: On April 22 at around 5:05 a.m., a citizen arrived at work to find a naked male on the property behaving as if he was under the influence near the 1700 block of County Road 102. The male entered a semi-truck with double trailers attached and began to drive within the lot. The driver was identified as Leonardo Marcos-Ramirez, a 30-year-old West Sacramento resident.
Marcos-Ramirez jack-knifed the semi and trailers and collided with a cyclone fence stalling the semi. Officers tried numerous attempts to call Marcos-Ramirez but he refused to exit. Nearly two hours passed and officers deployed pepper balls into the semi, but Marcos-Ramirez would not exit.
Officers approached the semi with a K-9 and Marcos-Ramirez exited. He was taken into custody and booked into the Yolo County Jail for stealing a vehicle and resisting officers.
