The blaze, which originated on the rear porch of the property, was controlled within 15 minutes by the responding firefighters. The fire department dispatched 38 firefighters who worked swiftly to prevent further spread of the flames.
Ziaoqing Jiang, the owner and occupant of the townhouse, was not injured, thanks to the early warning from a smoke alarm that activated during the incident. However, the fire resulted in an estimated $15,000 damage to the structure and an additional $500 loss in contents.
Despite the presence of both a smoke alarm and a fire sprinkler system, the latter did not activate during the incident. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the event.
The occupants of the home have been displaced by the fire and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. A neighbor, who first noticed the fire, alerted the occupants, enabling them to evacuate safely.
