Not all this wood is reclaimed. When we moved house I found behind the shed some large fence posts. Fence posts have proven useful before when I've made tables and even a fort! I've always wanted a porch, and having reroofed and insulated our shed, I felt a nice addition might be a pergola to sit under in a nice day and grow some grape vines up.
Things like this are always harder when you do them alone… I bought some planks and screwed them together to brace. To save effort, I built to fit the wood I bought, not cuts, lots of screwing. For the roof some plastic boards. At the side I found an old fence panel and this helps hide water buts and plant pots.
Simple but nice effect. As ever, there were a few blips, like being able to open the shed door… got there in the end.
We love sitting out in the evening, have some planters, a fire and table and chairs. Very relaxing.
