In a violent episode this past Sunday in Lexington Park, Maryland, a local man was arrested following a stabbing at a popular bar, which left another man seriously injured. The incident has drawn significant attention from the community and law enforcement.

According to the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the scene at Paradise Bar and Lounge on Great Mills Road following reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, they discovered a 64-year-old male victim with multiple stab wounds. Witnesses at the scene identified Winston Warren Smith, 38, also of Lexington Park, as the assailant.

The confrontation reportedly began as a verbal argument between Smith and the victim, which escalated into a physical altercation. During the fight, the victim sustained severe injuries from being stabbed multiple times. He was urgently airlifted to a nearby hospital by Trooper 7 of the Maryland State Police Aviation Command, where he was listed in stable condition.

Smith fled the scene immediately after the incident but was apprehended shortly afterwards during a traffic stop on Great Mills Road. He has been charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder and first- and second-degree assault. Following his arrest, Smith was transported to the Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, MD.

The sheriff's office has not released further details about the motive behind the altercation or any previous history between the involved parties. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the stabbing.
