It's Sunday afternoon and I finally got my pot of soup made and several split chicken breasts vacuum sealed and tossed in the freezer. I thawed home-made chicken broth in one pot while the chicken and veg was sauteing in the other pot. I wanted plenty of broth for this batch and I will freeze half of it later. I'll cook some wide egg noodles and add that to the bowls when it's time to serve. I dislike soggy noodles.
It's sunny, a cool 58° that feels a few degrees cooler, and all in all a gorgeous afternoon. Brad is down at his man cave puttering around with a couple of rifles that our son-in-law sent home with him after he dropped off one of the grandsons and lunch for everyone at the farm after leaving church. He brought us salmon and steamed veg from our favorite restaurant for lunch so there was very little clean-up. We portioned out half of what they gave us and will eat the rest for dinner later.
I was wearing a long-sleeve knit top while I was making soup and when washing up at the sink I manged to slosh water over a good part of the lower part of the left sleeve so I decided it was time to put on a short-sleeve top. It had been awhile so I grabbed one I haven't worn because it wasn't one of the 'relaxed fit' that I prefer to wear and, lo and behold, it fits me! That is a nice feeling, pulling too small clothing out of the closet and trying it on to discover it's not too small anymore. My next weight loss goal is to get below 200 lbs so I don't have far to go.
I am headed back to my workroom to do a little spinning. I could have sworn that the fiber I selected to work on was a Merino/Silk blend but it's actually a Polwarth/Tussah Silk blend and spins up very nicely. I have it separated out by the ounce from a braid weighing a little over five ounces. I'll spin half of it on one bobbin and the other half on a second bobbin so I can do a two-ply yarn, hoping for a fingering weight but we will see after it's plied and wet finished.
Hope your weekend has been good so far and your Sunday afternoon and evening is nice. Stay safe. Stay cozy. God bless.
