How is your New Year going? I started mine with a new hobby, teaching myself to crochet for charity.
Instead of playing on social media so much, I want to do something that may help others. I've always had a love for volunteering and this is something I can do.
All the sites I'm posting places you can donate knitted or crochet items. Make sure you read the guidelines and keep hand sanitizer near to keep your projects clean and as germ free as you can. Some projects go to very ill people.
http://knittedknockers.org had a pattern for crochet or knitted breast that woman who have had a mastectomy can have. Demand is high for this. The patterns and guidelines can be found on the site. They only want certain yarns used so make sure to explore the site. They have the pattern and follow along tutorials you can watch.
http://operationgratitude.com make blankets, hats, and scarfs for care packages being sent to those who serve our country.
http://snuggleproject.org An organization that takes blankets for animal shelters. The pet takes the blanket with them to their forever home.
http://carewear.org takes handmade items for hospitals and social service agencies. They have patterns for preemies, plush toys, blankets, hats, pediatric IV cover and a lot more items.
http://craftingchange.org it was started out of covid and grew. They are taking all kinds of items for different organizations who need Just a few items that are needed; dish clothes, chemo caps, hair scrunchies, soap sacks, hats, blankets and more.
http://friendsofpineridgereservation.org a reservation that takes handcrafted items. They have a lot of patterns on their page. Hats, bibs, baby cardigan, finger puppets, socks and more.
http://knotsoflove.org provides beanies for people going through chemo, PICC covers, limb huggers, and blankets for babies in incubators. Make sure to read their guidelines for donating.
These are just a few places that take donations. I
I can't wait to make something for someone. I've been practicing and getting ready to learn how to make the knockers. The pattern is small, and I'm hoping to make a pair a night once I get comfortable.
