Rotary Club of Lakeport Presents Drive-Thru Crab Feed and Online Auction on February 17 at Silveira Center
The Rotary Club of Lakeport is delighted to announce its highly anticipated Drive-Thru Crab Feed and Online Auction, scheduled to take place on Feb. 17, 2024, at the Silveira Center in Lakeport.
This event has been carefully crafted to allow guests to pick up their mouthwatering crab from the comfort of their vehicles and dine in the comfort of their own home.
The Drive-Thru Crab Feed will feature two pounds of the finest cracked crab, one pound of shrimp, salad, and bread, promising a feast for the senses. Each meal will be thoughtfully packaged for convenient pickup. Quarts of delicious clam chowder can be purchased as an "add-on" item.
In addition to these scrumptious delights, the Rotary Club of Lakeport is excited to host an Online Auction, offering a diverse array of items and experiences for bidding. Participants can browse, bid, and win from the comfort of their homes, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event.
"This Drive-Thru Crab Feed and Online Auction is a testament to our commitment to community engagement and service," said Pam Harpster, President-Elect.
Proceeds from the event will support Rotary Club of Lakeport's community projects, scholarships, and charitable initiatives, furthering their impact on the local community.

Purchase of 86-acre Keithly Ranch in Lakeport is finalized
Las month escrow closed on the purchase of the 86-acre Keithly Ranch property in south Lakeport. The Lake County Land Trust is now the proud owner of almost 300 acres of nearshore, upland wetlands, and riparian land in the south Lakeport area.
The Keithly ranch is adjacent to the Land Trust's Wright Wetland Preserve, creating a combined area that will protect 16 percent of Clear Lake wetlands.
The Keithly acquisition is of upmost importance because of the existence of Manning Creek, which runs through the property and empties into Clear Lake. The creek is a major spawning creek for the threaten Clear Lake Hitch. The Land Trust's Stewardship Committee is working with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife on funding to reconnect the creek to its original delta on the Wright Wetland Preserve.
Many generous supporters contributed funds for this acquisition. In addition to the required matching funds that the Wildlife Conservation Board required, expenses for a Land Agent, appraisals, Title Report, lawyer fees, a required environmental review, and closing costs were needed to complete this purchase.
The Land Trust thanks everyone who has supported this acquisition.
The Land Trust will develop a management plan with input from the nearby Big Valley band of Pomo Indians as this area is a significant part of their tribal homeland. General Plan Advisory Commitee recruitment announcement
The Lake County Board of Supervisors is recruiting members to serve on the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC), which will guide the Lake County General Plan and Local Area Plans Update. Ideal applicants will have expertise in one or more of the following fields:
- Public at-large (one seat for each Supervisorial District)
- Fire district
- Tribal Representative
- Homeowners association
- Education
- Water district
- Environmental group
- Senior support services
- Business association
- Conventional agriculture
- Cannabis industry
The project will update the 2008 Lake County General Plan and all eight Local Area Plans. This comprehensive update will plan through the year 2050, incorporating updated policy approaches to sustainability, safety and resilience, housing, environmental justice, and other important topics while carrying forward enduring County values like preserving and celebrating agriculture and the unique character of individual communities. The process will be community-driven and is expected to take three years to complete.
