Over the previous week or so, it seems I've gotten into a rhythm of doing loose abstract paintings. Mostly flowers in vases to this point.
In many ways, I find they can be harder and somewhat more challenging to compose than a painting that contains much finer detail in it.
As you're moving along, I find that you need to think more about where to place various aspects or items within the painting to direct the viewer to fill in the rest. Because loose and abstract(such as this) are more conceptual in scope, there needs to be more thought as to what the "elements" are and where the "concepts or elements" need to be placed within the painting.
The major issue with this particular painting is the yellow flowers at the top. Simply put, they're not right or accurate. In hindsight, I should have been paying more attention to the brushstroke direction and type of brush to generate the petals.
Nevertheless, a good learning exercise to carry forward with.
Thanks for taking a look.
