| Hikingmommy Dec 19 | A couple of Fridays ago I took all the boys with me to visit the train show. I didn't tell them what we were doing and they were all surprised. There was also a rock/mineral show going on in the same building and while we walked through that, the boys loved the trains. There were model trains of all sizes. Many had search and finds in the landscapes/cityscapes that they had set up. The train conductors were all proud of their model trains and enjoyed sharing them with all the kids and explaining how they had made them and built the sets. One of the guys had a number of different tracks that wrapped around and had blank maps that they kids could trace and follow the trains and their routes through all the tunnels and highlight their routes on the blank maps. Edric has also been my biggest train fan and he actually found a train engine for sale for 10$ which was about 10% the price of what a new one was going through and then also found some tracks for 1$. He was very excited and used his own money. Later he was talking with one of train set builders, (the same one with the maps and tunnels) and proudly showed him his new train engine. The sweet gentleman asked if he had any cars to go, and Edric said he was going to build his set over time and save up his money. Well that guy took me and Edric out to his car where he had some train cars and set pieces that he was going to give away and he loaded Edric up. I don't remember the last time I had seen him smile so much. It was a really sweet moment. Caedmon also ran into a couple of his good friends. When we got home all the boys got busy setting up the new train and tracks. | | | |
