Woodland will hold several holiday events leading to the end of the year, starting with the holiday tree lighting and Elf on the Shelf Friday.
The Elf on the Shelf scavenger hunt will kick off the night of celebration from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., allowing attendees to visit participating businesses to find the Elf.
"Pickup a map at participating businesses," the website stressed. "Find the item and get your map stamped and proceed to the next participating business."
The holiday tree lighting will occur at 7 p.m. at Heritage Plaza located at 701 Main St., with local art, food, music and lighted tractor hay rides on Main Street available from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., according to the event's website.
Neighborhood Santa
Santa Claus will be visiting Woodland starting at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, Thursday, Dec. 7, and Friday, Dec. 8, through three unique routes around the city.
"Santa would like to visit all neighborhoods, he just can't fit everyone into his busy schedule but hopes to get to more neighborhoods next year," the event's website stated. "Santa will also not be able to visit with children one on one during this neighborhood tour. As Santa will be traveling in a very special sleigh, it will be important that residents remain on the sidewalk and not try to approach the vehicles."

The website noted that a Santa Tracker will be available for the first time this year, updating the map in real-time.
"There may be a short delay in Santa's transmitter, but it will give everyone an idea of where he is on the route," the website stated. "Santa's location will be indicated on the map by a flashing red light."
Holiday Parade
The Woodland Chamber of Commerce announced the long-awaited return of the Holiday Parade from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, along Main Street.
"After a long hiatus, the parade will ride down Main Street again… with the theme 'Home for the Holiday Magic," the event's website stated. "We want to thank everyone in our community for their patience and the city of Woodland and Waste Management of Woodland for sponsoring this event."
The parade was supposed to return after a two-year hiatus last year but was canceled for the third year in a row due to weather conditions. The previous two parades were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Parents Night Out
Parents Night Out will allow parents to bring their children to the Woodland Community & Senior Center for pizza, snacks, games and activities.
According to the event's website, the event will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at 2001 East St. in Woodland.

The Woodland Public Library is inviting families to explore a classic board game with a twist with a life-sized Candy Land in the children's area.
On Saturday, Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., attendees will be able to follow the rainbow path through a "magical land of sweet surprises, see a variety of board game characters, navigate through Lollypop Woods and complete obstacle course challenges," according to a city press release.
"Don't forget to watch out for Lord Licorice!" The release warned. "For young children, basic games such as Candy Land teach color recognition, taking turns, patience and following directions."
Holiday-themed crafts, photo opportunities and sweet treats to go will be available, according to the release.

Fill the Trunk
The Woodland Police Department will be holding its Fill the Trunk Event from 8 a.m. to noon at the police department located at 1000 Lincoln Ave.
It will also hold the event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bronze Star Shopping Center and at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Costco located at 2299 Bronze Star Dr in Woodland.
In partnership with the Woodland Joint Unified School District, the event provides donated toys and gifts for Woodland and Yolo County's most in-need families. According to WPD Officer Stephanie Wilson, last year's event served 351 children, the most in Fill the Trunk history. This year, they are slated to serve over 400.
"Please help make a child's Christmas amazing by donating any new and unwrapped toys," the event's Facebook post stated. "Teens that are too big for toys love $25 gift cards to Dutch, Amazon, Target, Doordash. Bring your children with you to show them the true meaning of Christmas and a chance to meet their favorite school resource officers."
