Solomons, MD - Calvert County Sheriff's Deputies are intensifying efforts to locate the driver responsible for a hit-and-run collision involving a bicyclist on September 27, 2023. The incident occurred at approximately 7:56 p.m. in the vicinity of S. Solomons Island Road and Langley Lane in Solomons, Maryland.
Authorities revealed that the bicyclist, equipped with headlights and rear reflectors, was traveling north on S. Solomons Island Road when a white four-door SUV struck the cyclist from behind. Shockingly, the SUV driver did not stop to render aid or exchange information, leaving the injured cyclist in their wake.
Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the white SUV continued north on S. Solomons Island Road and was last seen crossing the Thomas Johnson Bridge, leaving investigators with a crucial but challenging lead to follow.
Emergency response teams swiftly reacted to the scene and transported the injured cyclist to CalvertHealth to treat sustained injuries.
Law enforcement has identified the striking vehicle as a white BMW SUV, which is believed to be missing the passenger side view mirror.
