Yesterday(Sunday), I posted a piece called, "New Week - New Goals....maybe?" After hitting publish early yesterday, I made a paper list of these "goals" I had set out for the week.
I completed the list more or less by day, culminating with the whole shooting match hopefully being finished and goals met by Thursday evening, as I'm flying back early Friday morning to Ontario.
Sunday, ended up being a great day in terms of the goals I slapped on the list. In fact, I got several goals done that I had hoped to accomplish later in the week.
One of the biggest goals I have is to get better and less critical of my work when it comes to acrylic painting. Part of the problem I encounter and I'm sure others as well, is that at times that "loud critical voice" often springs to life just as we're about to do something in our related artistic endeavors. You know, the one that says, it's not very good; should have done this or that instead; and the list of self-criticism elements can be long and varied.
I feel that part of overcoming that self-critical nonsense is simply to paint more and work harder at it. So, in light of that, I set a deadline of today(Monday) to finish the landscape/seascape that I'm currently working on. I need to finish more or less the bottom third of the painting, plus some additional work on the water and shoreline.
So, overall things are chugging along well, I think.
Realistically, some of these goals are really not much more than items on a list to get done before I leave on Friday. But, victories are still victories regardless of the size.
