Late Friday night at around 9:19 p.m., Woodland Police were dispatched to the 900 block of Beamer Street for the report of an argument and shots being fired.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic male adult wearing a bright orange shirt. Officers arrived on the scene and heard several gunshots. They observed a Hispanic male adult wearing a bright orange shirt retreat into a residence where the shooting was occurring.
A perimeter was set up and announcements were being made for the occupants of the residence to surrender.
The Yolo County Regional SWAT team responded to the scene to assist. The occupants were non-compliant for several hours.
In the early morning ours on Saturday at around 2 a.m., two males exited the residents and were detained. One of the males was 59-year-old Woodland resident Alfredo Mojica. Mojica was identified as the suspect who fired a handgun.
While SWAT secured the location, several spent .40-caliber shell casings were located near the residence, along with a .40-caliber handgun. Although several people in the area were contacted, none had injuries.
Mojica was arrested and booked on charges of willful discharge of a firearm, resisting/delaying police officers, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
