The Solano College women's volleyball team picked up two wins Friday at the Modesto Classic, defeating Porterville and Modesto.
Solano improved to 4-2 on the season with the wins.
In the first match of the day, Solano defeated Modesto 25-17, 25-22, 25-14.
Malia Decelle served 18-18 with three aces, eight kills and 13 digs Breanna Davis led the defense with 19 digs and served 9-9, while Kelsey Wall added eight kills and Hannah Del Rio led with three blocks and two kills. Lana Johansen had three blocks as well, while Jesse Bethel High graduate Vanya Paopao served 11-11 and had 11 assists, 13 digs and five kills.
"It was a great competitive match, happy we did enough to win in three sets," Solano head coach Darla Williams said. "We served tough as a team, and won some battles at the net. Modesto was very scrappy team."
Solano then defeated Porterville in three games, winning 25-18, 25-11, 25-18.
Malia Decelle led Solano on offense with 10 kills, four aces and eight digs, while Paopao had 21 assists and six kills. Davis served 16-16 with three aces, while Johansen had three blocks and two kills. Lexi Vasquez led the defense with 12 digs, serving 9-10 with two aces.
"It was a great way to finish off the week going 4-0," Williams said. "Next week will be a big challenge participating in the toughest tournament in Northern California."
Football
Elite 29, Foresthill 14
The Elite High football team bounced back from a loss a week ago to defeat Foresthill 29-14 on the road Friday night.
With the victory, Elite improved to 2-1 on the season.
The Eagles play at Woodland Christian on Friday.
Girls Volleyball
Albany 3, Bethel 0
The Bethel High girls volleyball team was swept by Albany on Thursday, falling 25-13, 25-15, 25-19.
The Jaguars fell to 0-2 on the season with the loss.
Bethel's next match is scheduled for Wednesday at St. Mary's.
