LAKEPORT/UPPER LAKE — Clear Lake beat St. Helena 25-17, 25-20, 25-22 in North Central League I varsity volleyball action Tuesday night in Lakeport to improve to 2-0 in league action. The young Cardinals won again on Thursday in Upper Lake to move to 3-0, leaving them tied with Kelseyville atop the NCL I standings.
The Cardinals are 8-1 overall and on a four-game winning streak. On Wednesday Clear Lake's Camrin Pivniska had 13 kills, Quincy Paarsch had 14 kills and 14 digs, Emily Gersalia had 33 assists, "she had a great game," said coach Marcella Psalmonds. Amber Smart had 13 digs and 3 aces.
Clear Lake went to Upper Lake Thursday and beat the Cougars 25-20, 25-12, 25-23.
Paarsch 12 kills, 3 aces, and 9 digs, Pivniska had 9 kills, 10 digs, 5 aces, Smart had 12 digs and Gersalia had 21 assists and 5 digs.
Middletown lost a 4 set match Thursday night against St. Helena.

"The games were tough last night. Hard fought with long rallies," noted coach Vanessa Davis. "Carly Johnson did a great job controlling the net and shutting down the Saints front row attack. Mia Hoogendoorn had a great match- she had a long serving stretch in the second and third set getting us back in competitive mode. The third set was a brutal back and forth game."
Next week the Mustangs host the Cardinal Tuesday and the Knights Thursday. "We are looking forward to the week ahead" said Davis.
