It's the kiddo. I sat quietly in our garden as two juncos passed along the fence and toward seeds on the ground. One was an adult male, the next was speckled like some dark Song Sparrow. It was newly fledged junco-kid, one moire full molt before he opr she will get the crisp lines between white and dark gray. But the white tail stripes asre already there. Whew, confirms my surmise it is a junco.
