The Greater Vallejo Recreation District is set to recognize Ron Bowen for his seven plus years of service on the Board of Directors at Thursday's board meeting.
Appointed by Supervisor Linda Seifert in 2015 and reappointed in 2019 by Supervisor Monica Brown, Bowen has served on the Budget and Finance Committee, Facility and Development Committee, Policies and Personnel Committee, Programs and Publicity Committee, Inter-Agency Committee as well as the Blue Rock Springs Golf Course Development Advisory Committee.
He has lived in Vallejo since 2005 and is an Affordable Housing Professional that works with VA clients, seniors, and disabled residents to ensure housing retention. He is the current Treasurer of the Glen Cove Community Association, which serves over 3,000 homes.
Bowen served as a non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force and is a graduate of the Air Force Leadership School.
"His experience in fiscal management and strategic planning has helped to ensure the GVRD continues to serve the citizens and children of Vallejo," a news release stated. "Staff and board members would like to acknowledge the years he has committed to the district."
The District has a second position left vacant with the departure of Adjoa McDonald in March 2023. The City of Vallejo will begin the application process to fill that vacancy in the coming months. Any person interested in applying for the vacancy should reach out to the City of Vallejo City Clerk.
