This isn't been the first time that I've parked my carcass at the keyboard to lament on and on about "where had the motivation gone?"
And not overall blogging motivation, but the motivation or perhaps inspiration to pound out a particular blog post or any post for that matter.
All of this motivational or inspirational drought is in an odd way seemingly ironic, in that I started a 135-day or so daily posting streak back in mid-October.
At that point inspiration for blog post ideas was running at a level decent enough to well........ post daily for over four months.
Honestly, the sole reason the "streak" derailed, was I started working for our regional schoolboard and merely didn't possess the time to post on a daily basis.
The motivation to blog is still there, the problem or issue(I think) stems from a lack of inspiration or ideas for creating a post.
However, the apparent lack of inspiration comes in waves.
Or at least I think it comes in waves. Often over a period of time(days, weeks, or months), there is a peak of motivation and inspiration where posting simply glides unencumbered like a gently flowing stream.
We can ride that motivation/inspiration peak for a while, then things slowly or sometimes quickly slip into a valley period where inspiration and in many instances motivation is nowhere to be found.
I do think at least for myself that my "blogging life" and my "life life" do run to some degree on a parallel course.
When there are lots of inspiring things happening in our daily existence and we're doing and experiencing a broad variety of new and old things, then often the inspiration for posts is as easy and simple as waking up in the morning.
On the other hand, when our lives are not so exciting(dare we announce boring at times), could that not spill over into our "blogging life?" I'm thinking it could.
One thing about the "wave graphic" above is, it does go in waves or repeat itself over time. A peak time is followed by a valley; that is followed by a peak ...... and so on.
Maybe this whole motivation/inspiration is as simple as that. A long string of peaks and valleys.
Conceivably, this is simply part of the inevitable course or path that bloggers follow. Peaks and valleys.
I suspect that there are a number(and even a vast number) of concrete or practical items or ideas that I could employ to aid in the inspiration or motivation for drafting and creating posts.
One thing I might give a whirl to, creating simple "one or to line draft posts" immediately when an idea "whacks me upside the head."
This(at least in my mind) would provide a well of ideas that are there that simply just need to be finished.
Maybe it isn't motivation or inspiration or any one of those fancy words at all. For all one knows, all of this is just the basic need to implement simple, yet concrete and effective writing/blogging tools on a regular basis.
The inspiration is there, but there are no tools or materials readily available in order to complete the project.
With any luck, we're on the upslope to another peak.
Time will tell.
