GAME 6: Kings at Warriors at Chase Center, at 5 p.m. TV: ESPN. Announcers: Mike Breen (play-by-play), Mark Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy (color commentary), Lisa Salters (sideline reporting).
ODDS: Warriors -7.5. OVER/UNDER: 236.5. (Both from Caesar's Sportsbook.)
CURRENT SERIES: Warriors lead 3-2. SEASON SERIES: Warriors went 3-1 against the Kings in the regular season. PRIOR PLAYOFF HISTORY: None.
It sure looked bleak for the Warriors when they first returned to Chase Center eight days ago, down 0-2 and with Draymond Green suspended for Game 3.
But now, as the Warriors prepare to play Game 6 back in San Francisco against the Sacramento Kings, they're in a position that's all too familiar to their dynastic core: a chance to clinch another playoff series.
Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green helped lead the Warriors to a massive win in Game 5 — and, in the process, won a road game for the 28th consecutive playoff series the trio have played in for Golden State.
How Chase Center sounds will be a fascinating subplot to start this game, which is tipping off at the unusually early hour of 5 p.m. local time because the NBA wants both of its Game 6s on national television.
A win would put the Warriors in an advantageous spot, getting to watch the end of Game 6 in the the Memphis Grizzlies-Los Angeles Lakers series. A Lakers win would mean Game 1 between the Warriors and Lakers would be Sunday afternoon in San Francisco, so every extra hour of rest (and the lack of travel for the Warriors) would be welcomed.
But this young and hungry Sacramento team, under NBA Coach of the Year and former Warriors assistant Mike Brown, does not seem like the time who will fold and make Game 6 easy for Golden State. And for a Warriors team that's been inconsistent all season, the last thing they want to do is have to go back to Sacramento for Game 7 on Sunday and have to win another road game to advance.
Follow along with our reporters Madeline Kenney, Curtis Pashelka, Shayna Rubin and columnist Dieter Kurtenbach and other analysts providing their thoughts about the game.
