I ran across a post where someone posted an AI short story prompt. I didn't care enough to read the short story generated by AI, however, it did make me remember my favorite article by Mark Manson:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/observer.com/2016/08/i-for-one-welcome-our-ai-overlords/amp/
It's been a while since I read that article, but I look forward to reading it again soon. The part I remember most is where he posits the theory that AI would be too smart to waste time battling with humans, as you typically see in sci-fi, and what would actually happen is that they'd somehow make pets out of us, and we'd be perfectly content in such a way that we would not care that the human race and all the bodies were disappearing. Not sure if I am getting it right, gotta re-read, but it's along those lines and it is brilliant.
I think AI is the next step in human evolution. I don't see a difference between robot intelligence and human intelligence. Humans learned how to put THEIR OWN intelligence into materials dug and pulled from the earth. That fact is amazing in and of itself.
Even when it was very rudimentary, it was a miracle. Magic. That a human can make something do auto calculations. Alternately, if it's not DNA and human intelligence putting itself into machines, then that would mean there some other intelligence outside of humans (what some might view as God or something) and that's even more amazing.
So if I am correct that it's just an extension of human intelligence, then AI taking over would actually be natural evolution. I'm with Mark - I have no idea why people are so terrified of AI overtaking humans. Humans are royal fuck ups. They do war, murder, etc. I thought some progress has been made until I realized the current political divisions are as old as humans are. You know own what I mean. So, maybe the AI thing is natural evolution and could enact some much needed change.
I was really glad to run across that other post. I don't feel like discussing my personal life or feelings today, and I had to get through CORN. Ugh. I had got this bag of frozen veggies that I thought might just have a little corn. Thing was 3/4 corn with 1/4 black beans and green peppers. Cheap-ass bastards. But I bought it so I'll eat it. The remainder may have to be a nacho topping or something.
