The last few days have been busy and we've accomplished quite a bit.
We decided to downsize with regard to the microwave. We've had a large Panasonic, 1,250 W since 2010 and we don't really use it for cooking, mainly for reheating left-overs. It's quite large and takes up a lot of room and we decided to start looking for a small one to replace it. This is what we found at Home Depot:
It's a Magic Chef, 700W, .7 cu ft. If fits nicely on top of the dresser I use for kitchen towels, wash cloths, plastic bags and other things. I had this dresser as a child and refurbished it when we built the house to use in the kitchen.
We also picked up 30 lbs of Annual Rye Grass seed while we were at Home Depot. We have more rain in the forecast pretty soon and we'll be able to seed the bare spot between the driveway and the road when the ground is damp enough. It's too far from a source of water for us to be able to water it by hand so we have to rely on wet weather for that. We've waited until now to see if any grass would start growing on it's own but that hasn't happened. That was all dense trees and brush before it was cleared so it needs a little help.
I ordered a book on Sourdough bread and it arrived yesterday in the mail. I glanced through the first few pages and will sit down and give it a more in depth look later. I'll discuss it with Audrey since she has more experience with this sort of thing than I do. It's been 30 years since I had a starter going and I used packaged yeast for mine.
Brad bought me a magazine loader for my 9 mm Sig and I'll put it to use in the next day or two. My thumbs get sore loading magazines and it will come in very handy for loading and unloading. I have enough spare magazines to load a 50 round box of ammo when we go shoot...which I haven't done in much too long.
Yesterday was chiropractor day and we got Chick Fil A after our appointments and then did our shopping and errands. We don't have anything going on today and have enjoyed a day at home. I've got an appointment tomorrow and nothing the rest of the week.
We need to find a home for the Panasonic microwave and we have a couple of options we'll check out. There are a couple of charities in town and we'll start there. It's still in good working order and we have the owners manual for it.
I grabbed the cowl out of time out while we were out and about yesterday and I'm back where I was when I had to frog and fix the dropped stitches so I'm in a better frame of mind about the cowl. The shawl is coming along but I haven't taken any more photos of it yet. Brad is down at his shop and it's nearly 6:30 pm so it's time to think about our evening meal. We had a late lunch so we won't want much, but we both have supplements to take and so we'll need to eat something first.
I've got a list started of things to buy for stocking the freezer in the garage and we'll see about a little shopping on the way home from town tomorrow. We've got frozen dinners, Blue Bell ice cream in pint jars that fit nicely in the door, frozen chicken broth and a couple of large bags of cranberries. We need some frozen mixed fruit and some frozen vegetables, especially frozen corn on the cob, our favorite!
I have a couple of more containers in the freezer compartment of the fridge that need to go into vacuum bags and then out to the big freezer. I need to stock up on ground beef and see what I can find in the way of beef roasts. We want three or four of Walmart's roasted chickens and some split chicken breasts to freeze as well. And I'm considering buying a couple of more gel pack/ice packs to put out there as well. We have two small ones and one large one. It would be nice to have extras and store them all out in the big freezer to give us more room in the other freezer.
I hear Brad coming in from outdoors so I'll finish this post and get on with my evening plans. Have a blessed Wednesday evening, ya'll.
