A Fort Bragg man was arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography after being pulled over for texting while driving, the Willits Police Department reported.
According to the WPD, an officer stopped a vehicle on South Main Street shortly after 9 a.m. Feb. 24 after reportedly observing the driver texting while operating the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Keono Lara, 31, of Fort Bragg, reportedly admitted he was a registered sex offender and on "felony probation for a previous conviction of possession of child pornography," which requires him to "obey all laws, submit to search and seizure, and (to) provide passcodes for all of his electronic devices."
The officer then located "a tablet and several phones" in the vehicle with Lara, "and a search of the tablet's contents revealed over 100 images and movies of obviously very young females engaged in various sex acts with adult males."
Lara was booked into Mendocino County Jail on suspicion of possessing child pornography and violating his probation.
The WPD also notes that "the investigation into Lara's electronic devices is ongoing and additional charges may develop."
