UPPER LAKE — Credo took it to an understrength Upper Lake High School varsity boys basketball team on Tuesday night, pinning a 63-26 loss on the Cougars in North Central League II play at Upper Lake.
The Cougars (2-7 league, 6-14 overall) were minus Johnny Gozony (injury), Darian Loans Arrow (illness) and Jon Barnes (illness) against the Gryphon (10-0, 15-6), the undefeated NCL II leaders.
"The boys played hard, but it was nothing to write home about," Upper Lake head coach Miles Hayes said.
Credo led 24-5 after one quarter and never looked back.
Robert Rosin's seven points led the Cougars.
The news was much better for the Upper Lake junior varsity team, which clinched the NCL II championship with a 45-37 victory. Landon Robinson and Beaux Stiritz led the way with 13 points apiece and Delaney Allison had 10.
Jerod Rosales had another big game on the boards while also scoring eight points and blocking three shots.
"He had multiple boards," Upper Lake head coach Thomas Santana said. "He dominated on the boards."
Upper Lake led 28-19 at halftime.
The Cougars close out league play and their season Tuesday at home against Grace Academy while the varsity squad takes on Tomales.
