So, the double-thick, long scarf was sailing right along. Then I noticed that the partial skein of yarn I was using was going much further than I had imagined it would. In fact, it was beginning to look like a rather nice bag! So, I did a YO, K2 together to make the eyelet holes and finished with six rows of garter stitch for a little texture. Now all I need is to line the bag and make a drawstring and I'll have a hand-knitted project bag that will be perfect for a sock project. I'll have to go stash diving in my scrap fabric and see what I can find to use for the lining.

The bag measures 7 1/2" X 11". I'll soak it in Eucalan and block it then decide what to use for a lining and drawstring cord. The drawstring can easily be fashioned out of left-over yarn on my lucet.

This one was made by Jeri Brock and is the perfect size for my hands. I don't care for the kind with the long handle that the craft stores like Hobby Lobby carry. It just gets in the way when I'm making the cord. You start with a slip knot and put the loop over one of the prongs, wrap the cord around the other prong and back to the prong holding the loop. As you bring the yarn back around be sure to keep it loose enough that you can pull the bottom loop up and over the working yarn and off the top end of the prong. It takes a little practice but you can easily get to where you can adjust the tension with the bottom loop as you pull it over the top of the working yarn. This is just an illustration to show how the cord is made. I'll pick a different fingering yarn that is a bit more durable.

I've cast on for another cowl, longer this time. I decided against the long, double-thick scarf and a hundred stitches was too wide for a scarf anyway. I'll stick to the original ninety stitches, use the size three needle and work my way through some left-over yarns...weighing them as I go so the sections are about the same length. I used five mini skeins for the last two cowls but I can use more than that for a cowl that can be doubled back around my neck without it being too snug. I'll just play around with it for a bit and see how it turns out.

Allergies have been bugging me and yesterday afternoon I ended up napping a lot. The antihistamine I took made me drowsy but I got a good night's sleep last night so I am good to go this morning. We are off to the chiropractor in a little while and in the meantime it's time to think about some breakfast and get the coffee brewing. Hope we don't have any downpours while we are out and about. Have a blessed Tuesday, ya'll.
