This is the time of years we think of making New Year's Resolutions. You know, I have made them on and off throughout my life and I don't think I stuck to any of them. Some longer than others, but they were not still there at the end of that year...not even close! So what do I propose? Not making resolutions? Not really. Let's think of it as life-changing goals.
This makes me think of the scripture:
ISAIAH 43:18-19 AMPLIFIED BIBLE (AMP)
18 "Do not remember the former things, Or ponder the things of the past. 19 "Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even put a road in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.
Don't remember your blunders and the bad things that happened during 2022. A new thing. Let God do a new thing in you. Following are some "new things" He has put on my heart for me.
Lose weight. Now isn't that a familiar one? This time I am accountable. I am going through this with my doctor. She has given me tips and ideas on what to do - for my body and health.
More time with God. Yep, another familiar time. But that is too vague. Let's get more direct here. I have a wonderful bible app from you version. I like the New Living here because of the audio. So, I will begin the year "listening" and following along for 15 minutes with a goal of 1 hour before the end of the year. Right now I am just doing 2 chapters.
Finish the book I am writing. Again, too vague. I am to be finished before summer, June 21. That way I have time to find a publisher who doesn't charge an arm and a leg and be out by October for Christmas shopping. I especially want it out before Black Friday.
These are my 3 goals for the year. It would be nice what your goals are for the year. Let us keep each other "accountable". Encourage one another in this.
*I wrote this 3 years ago. Did I do all 3? Nope. Like normal, the resolutions go to the wayside. Last year was when I finally got closer to God and His Word. I really enjoy the one-year Bible. In fact, I finished it early! So....I have started again. Losing weight? That's a joke, but going to try again. Finish the book? Well....I got some of it done. Still working on it.
So it's okay to make resolutions. These are goals to work on. Maybe I can do better in 2023. I don't know at this point, but will try.
Have a blessed day and end of 2022. See you in 2023!
