So, we've managed to make it to the day after the day after.
For me, this day involves traveling back from spending time with Lynn's parents over Christmas, to our home in Nova Scotia.
At the time of writing this, I'm not sure if Lynn will be heading back with me or not. I hope she is. I did talk to her on Saturday(the 17th) and she kind of alluded to perhaps heading back home with me. Update - I think Lynn's return with me has been delayed as her Mom was scheduled to begin five consecutive days of radiation treatments starting yesterday(the 27th).
In many ways, today will be a day of mixed emotions. Happy to head back to our home in Nova Scotia, but also the swirling emotions about the health of Lynn's Mom.
I guess that we'll have found out more in terms of her treatment program; prognosis for the future and what that might look like going forward. So many unknowns as I sit here and type this.
I do know that Lynn's parents were shocked beyond belief(a good shock) that our daughter made the trip as well. I think it has been pre-COVID since the last time they saw their granddaughter and only grandchild in person. I'm thinking four years maybe? They were not expecting to see her at all.
This wasn't the way it was supposed to be this year.
When we told her parents back in the spring we were selling and moving to Nova Scotia - it was all good. Surprising for them - but good.
Hell - they even understood why we decided to uproot and head east. There was even talk of them driving to the east coast later in the summer or early fall with Lynn's aunt and uncle(her Mom's youngest sister).
Now, they will never see our place. And there is a decent enough chance that this was the last visit between granddaughter and grandmother. Sad, but not sure how else to deal with it or say it.
But, enough of that. It is a travel day.
So, off the downtown Toronto Island Airport(Bill Bishop Airport) for a 4:30ish pm flight. A short stop in Montreal and then wheels down in Halifax around 9:15pm. There still is a two-hour drive back to the new 'old homestead" after that.
If you've been following along for the last six days or so - thanks.
