When guests visit our home, it's always the nudge we need to complete the projects we've had on a back burner. My mom has friends visiting in a few weeks, and decided this would be a good time to update her bedroom since she's been thinking about doing it for awhile now.
Before
My mom loves neutral decor with a pop of color, and before the update, she was using different shades of blue.
For this project, all the furniture was staying so the biggest changes would be coming from updated bedding, rugs, and some wall accents. Let's get started!
The Plan
The rug you see is what really inspired the colors for the room. I loved the terracotta accents in it, and thought that would be a perfect color in her room with the flooring, paint, and curtains. Also, my step-dad is a Harley guy, so I thought he'd probably be ok with the color, too! I listed all the sources for the room at the end of the post.
All Put Together
One of the first things my mom told me was she wanted her bed to feel like she was crawling into a hotel bed each night. She didn't need new sheets, but I was so excited when I found her duvet on sale at Anthropologie. Of course I had to go with white to really get the hotel feeling.
I loved the colors of these Ann Marie + Co. pillow covers. They were an awesome compliment to the colors of the rug and art work above the bed.
Speaking of art work, the colors of this piece were so tranquil and pretty. I was so happy they came in a large size for above the king bed.
I was so impressed at how substantial this faux olive tree was when it came. It really has been one of the best faux trees I've purchased for a room.
I kept the bedside table decor simple for this update. I love this photo because of the amount of texture in one shot: the wood lamp, twisted candle, marble candle holder, a cozy rug, a cotton-linen duvet, and linen curtains. Swoon.
Her reaction to the update was so cute. I'll post that to Instagram soon! What do you think?
