The American Canyon High girls volleyball team improved to a 5-0 record on Thursday night with a thrilling win in five games against Benicia on the road.
The Wolves won 25-15, 11-25, 14-25, 25-18, 15-9 in front of a jam-packed crowd.
Giselle Torres had 17 digs, 15 assists and nine kills for the Wolves. Arianna Pacheco had 10 kills and nine digs, while Ava Berry had six kills and two blocks.
Isabella Avila had 23 digs, while Sophia Bernabe had 15 digs of her own. Nalani Bustos had 17 assists and nine digs, Kennedy Brown had four blocks.
As of presstime, Benicia had not entered stats on maxpreps.com.
Benicia fell to 2-2 with the non-league loss. The Panthers next match is Wednesday at home against Encinal.
American Canyon's next match is Tuesday at home against Casa Grande.
Earlier in the night the American Canyon junior varsity team defeated Benicia 25-14, 25-21.
Vanessa Vidriales-Zarate had 13 digs and two kills, while Keana Resultay had 21 digs. Adrienne Nicolas had six digs and three kills, while Elena Countouriotis also had three kills. Isabella Trinidad had four digs. Ianna Lobao had five kills, and Emeliia Johnson and Alison Lewis each had seven assists.
