This year, Trek launched a small lineup of environmentally-conscious and subtly-branded kits. Their styling, fabrics and construction offer classic looks and versatility look good together or with jerseys or bib shorts from other brands. Here, we'll dive into the new Trek Velocis Bib Shorts after testing them on road, gravel, MTB and indoors.

Velocis = versatile bib shorts
For 2022, the Velocis Bib Shorts got an overhaul and a new name. These redesigned bib shorts are now more eco-friendly (uses 65% recycled material) and offer quality performance. To me, a good pair of bib shorts has to make a strong first impression. Length, compression, cuffs, straps and chamois are noticeable right off the bat. Regarding all those aspects, the Trek Velocis Bib Shorts impress. The fabric feels taut, but is still stretchy enough for natural movement. Leg length is also excellent (not too long or too short). And, the straps are wide, soft and comfortable -- providing the proper tension to allow everything to situate just perfectly.
With that extra compression and grippy silicone leg grippers, you will need to do a little extra movements to get everything in place. Once there, the chamois sits well and the whole package feels great -- with or without a summer base layer. The bib straps do pull the lowers nicely and keep everything in place.

Getting in and out of the saddle, the chamois never gets in the way, nor does the exterior fabric snag on any saddles tested. Plus, all your man parts stay put and don't get in harm's way with those movements either.
The Pro InForm chamois is good for 3+ hours (as Trek states), but there are better ones for riding 50+ miles. I also have the Trek Circuit Bib Shorts in review and the Pro InForm chamois is noticeably better than the Elite InForm chamois used there (if you're comparing the two). That said, it breathes well and does provide reliable comfort within it's intended use. Overall, the cut of the bibs and the leg grippers do make these bib shorts almost disappear because they just plain work.
Muted branding with standard black bib shorts will work with anything.
Keep in mind that these are a completely new design for 2022, not just a rebadged Velocis from last year's Bontrager line.

The Bottom Line: Trek Velocis Bib Shorts
Whether Trek continues to grow the Trek-branded line and discontinues the Bontrager brand for clothing remains to be seen. But, you'll be pleased with the Velocis Bib Shorts as an affordable, comfortable pair of bibs for all-around use.
