The Electra Fire, burning in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Amador and Calaveras counties, is now California's second biggest wildfire of the season.
On Thursday morning, the burned area was 4,272 acres (6.7 square miles), according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Containment was at 40%.
The fire started Monday afternoon along the North Fork of the Mokelumne River. The cause has not been determined, CalFire said.
No structures have been damaged. One firefighter injury has been reported.
Evacuation orders remained in place Thursday for parts of Amador and Calaveras counties. The map above shows the approximate area of mandatory evacuation in red and warning areas in yellow. The black line shows the approximate perimeter of the fire.

The biggest California wildfire so far this year is Lost Lake, which started May 26 along the Colorado River north of Blythe. It burned 5,856 acres. No structures were destroyed.
Before Electra, the second biggest was the Airport Fire, which started Feb. 16 near Bishop's airport and burned 4,136 acres.
At this time last summer, crews were fighting three fires that started in late June in the Mount Shasta area: Lava and Tennant in Siskiyou County and Salt in Shasta County. They would burn almost 40,000 acres combined. In their early stages were two fires started by July 4 lightning strikes: Beckwourth Complex (105,670 acres) and Tamarack (68,637).
Last season's largest fire, Dixie (963,309 acres), started on July 13 and was contained on Oct. 25.
The Electra fire is within the footprint of 2015's Butte Fire, which burned 70,868 acres (111 square miles) and destroyed 877 structures. Two residents were killed in that fire.
