LAKE COUNTY — Juan Lopez of Finley is the points leader in three of four flights in the race for Golfer of the Year honors on the Lake County Amateur Golf Circuit (LCAGC).
Through the first seven events on the 2022 LCAGC tournament schedule, Lopez, one of the more decorated golfers in the amateur circuit's history dating back to its inception in the early 1990s, leads the championship flight, the senior gross flight and the senior net flight. In the championship flight for scratch golfers, Lopez holds a slim 10-point lead over his chief competition, Billy Witt of Hidden Valley Lake. Lopez had 590 points to Witt's 580. Peter Wotherspoon and Wyatt Ferrell are tied for third place with 495 points and Dylan Harrison is fifth with 370.
In the net flight, Smith has 570 points to 550 for Wotherspoon, 490 for Rick Easter, 430 for Enrique Monsante, and 425 for Todd Colbrandt.
In the senior gross flight, Lopez is atop the standings with 820 points to Witt's 720, Easter's 570, Colbrandt's 510 and Joe Delprete's 355.
In the senior net flight, Lopez has 585 points to 515 for both Witt and Easter, 495 for Ted Knowles, and 485 for Colbrandt.
The next event on the LCAGC calendar is the Aug. 27-28 Lake County Amateur at Adams Springs Golf Course on Cobb Mountain.
