Mom Says!
When we're little kids
the most powerful phrase
in the English language
is "Mom says!"
Nature, our First Mother,
has some powerful language, too.
If we listen,
she'll tell us how to live well.
Mom says,
Every daybreak is an opportunity to shine.
Sometimes we need rain, too.
Mom says,
Every sunset is a chance to reflect on Beauty,
and night time is for good rest.
Mom says,
Life has seasons:
Seed time, flower time,
fruit time, and dormant time.
Mom says,
All living things are my children;
you're always surrounded by family.
Mom says,
I take good care of all that lives.
You can count on me.
Mom says,
Tell me your troubles;
I'll give you peace.
Mom says,
I've given you life:
fed you, clothed you,
and surrounded you
with Beauty.
This will never change.
Are you having a rough day?
Put on your shoes
and head outdoors.
Keep your eyes and ears open.
Listen
to what Mom says.
