A Ukiah man was arrested recently on multiple drugs- and weapons-related felonies after a caller reported seeing someone selling drugs out of the trunk of their car, the Ukiah Police Department reported.

According to the UPD, an officer responded to the intersection of East Gobbi Street and Waugh Lane around 11:45 a.m. Feb. 19 when a caller reported someone was possibly selling marijuana out of a vehicle.

The officer spotted the suspect vehicle exiting a parking lot and stopped it, then contacted the three occupants inside. The driver was identified as Mathew J. Riley, 21, of Ukiah, and the other two occupants were identified only as minors.

The officer also reportedly observed "marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia inside the vehicle and within reach of the two minors," and after Riley reportedly admitted the marijuana was his, the officer further searched the vehicle and found: A semi-automatic 9mm handgun that was loaded, had a high capacity magazine and the serial numbers were obliterated; three approximately 1-pound bags of marijuana; approximately 77.5 grams of Cocaine (approximately 774 dosage units); 65 Alprazolam prescription pills (controlled substance); 20 baggies containing MDMA "molly"; a baggie containing 1 gram of Cocaine; 18 vials of CBD; a concealed, loaded 9mm polymer 80 Glock-style handgun (ghost gun), loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition; a concealed, loaded 9mm 80 Glock-style handgun (ghost gun), loaded with 34 rounds of ammunition, with a threaded barrel, as well as paraphernalia that was consistent with sales of controlled substances.

Riley was then arrested on suspicion of possessing and transporting narcotics for sale, possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle and during commission of a felony, and possessing both high-capacity magazines and an assault rifle.

Riley was booked into Mendocino County Jail under $50,000 bail, and the minors were released to their parents.
